How tender coconut water becomes poison
Dear Sir,
In the scorching heat, a glass of tender coconut water feels like a touch of peace. Not only in extreme heat, but also as a dietary aid for the sick, coconut water is considered highly beneficial. For this very reason, people place deep trust in this clear, sweet, and refreshing drink.
However, taking advantage of that trust, some dishonest farmers and middlemen, in pursuit of quick profit, are reportedly injecting various growth regulators and even steroid-like substances into tender coconuts while they are still on the tree using syringes. As a result, the coconuts grow abnormally fast, become heavier, look plump and attractive from the outside, and are sold at higher prices in the market. Consuming the water from such coconuts can severely damage the liver and kidneys, create hormonal imbalances in the body, and may even increase the risk of cancer.
If this unethical practice is not stopped immedi-ately, tender coconuts themselves could become a serious public health threat in the future.
