Take actions against sleazy hostels at Farmgate
Dear Sir,
Farmgate is not just a part of Dhaka-it's a vibrant educational hub. Home to renowned institutions like Holy Cross College, Government Science College, and BAF Shaheen College, the area also shelters thousands of university admission seekers, BCS aspirants, and job seekers, all striving for a better future. However, their journey often begins with a harsh reality: the condition of student hostels in Farmgate.
Most hostels are unregistered and fail to meet basic living standards. Owners make grand promises-nutritious food, clean rooms, Wi-Fi-but students are met with unhygienic, cramped spaces, rotten rice, watery lentils, and rude behavior. Despite paying 6,000 to 10,000 BDT monthly, they are subjected to humiliation and neglect, with no authority to turn to.
These students are the future of our country, yet they are forced to endure such suffering. The lack of regulation, monitoring, and empathy in these hostels is alarming. If we allow the next generation to grow in such conditions, the nation will inevitably bear the cost. I urge the government to take immediate action and ensure safe, healthy, and dignified living conditions for all students.
